These boots provide excellent coverage of the hoof and heel.I have been using these boots for several years for turnout. My gelding gets sores on his front leg elbows from laying down and getting up due to hoof heel brushing against the elbow.I've got several pair which I rotate and wash every day or two depending upon conditions.The boots seem to be constructed of neopreme with a fabric covering, which is durable and takes a beating, and velcro straps. My area of concern with the boots is with the velcro straps which wear out. Over time, the straps wear out and roll up on themselves and just flat out give up. Due to the construction, it is not easy to sew on other velcro straps.So, I resort to buying straps of velcro and using this to keep the boots on.Before Covid hit, I called the company and the rep told me that these boots are not gauranted for full time turn out. I'm using them for this and check on my horse daily. I've only had a few problems over the years with them which falls into two groups: The velcro dtraps wearing out, and my horse losing one occassionally in the pasture.These boots can be put on too tight and will cause rubbbing. Mud will build up on the underside of the boots and can cause some rubbing.Overall, if you need them, yes they are worth the price, however, you need to pay attention to the horse that is wearing them.
